Leaf Green Won't Save

Support magistrates accused by Nicolas Sarkozy

The judges will be on strike Thursday and Friday following the Union's appeal of the Judiciary in response to remarks by N. Sarkozy. This has, indeed, threatened sanctions against those who allegedly committed a "fault" in the case Laƫtitia.

reads one of the motions passed yesterday, February 8, 2011, by the Council of the Bar of Paris:

" The Bar Association of Paris, sharing the concern about the criticism of the executive in respect of the authority court, said:
- That the judges have no mandate to eradicate crime
- What make judges responsible for a relapse or they could not foresee or prevent, leads necessarily call into question their freedom and independence;
- That the laws, without means of enforcing them, remain empty formulas .
